The best deal is for you to get a Unlock T-Mobile Phone that incude the WiFi HotSpot feature (most Windows and Droid Phones has this feature), than go to Walmart to get the $30 Monthly 4G Plan, which will give you the speed up to 4G (3G HSPA+) for the first 5GB a month, unlimited text, and 100 minutes talk for only $30 + tax a month.

For the right unlock phone, you get better battery performance, no 2-year agreement, and best dollar ($30 monthly) for 5GB a month with a soft limit. And it is a phone that can do unlimited text which a Hotspot devices don’t do.

Smart Phones in 2012

No one know which phone will come out ahead/on top in another 12 months. With new Droid phones keep coming out left and right, the long awaiting iPhone 5 yet to be launched, and the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), it is really hard to predict which one will become the favor.

In my view, iPhone 5 will still win out because of brand Recognition, established apps availability, and planned infrastructure.

Microsoft Windows Phone with Mango will take the second place. It is only because Microsoft hasn’t had any great success for a long time. It is really about time for Microsoft to claim something in 2012.

For Droid, they are too busy killing each others as it is really over populate with too many different droid phone and tablet. The confusion in choices (not the rich selections) is going to hurt a bit in 2012.

And BlackBerry, really, it will contiune to decline as it seems it reach Apple’s 1990 status–a once bright company in sharp decline.

Mac Virtual Machine

Finally, Apple allows the Mac OSX 10.7 Lion client to be run as a Virtual Machine. Given that good news, in order to run the Mac client VM, you have to use the Mac hardware with either the VMWare Fusion 4.1 or Parallels Desktop 7. If you are using any non-Mac hardware, you still cannot run the Mac VM. If you plan to buy a new Mac and also plan the run a Mac VM on top of the Mac host, you should consider the confguration with minimum of 8GB of RAM.

Steve Jobs or Apple

In the years to come, we all will find out. Did Steve Jobs made Apple to make those stunning products? Or Apple made the stunning products for Steve to sell.

Myself, I believe that Steve made the solid foundation for Apple to be successful for a long long time. We will continue to see stunning Apple products one after the others.

Siri speaks English and two other European Languages only (for now)

Just if you are wondering if Siri speaks Chinese, Japanese or other language. For now, Siri speaks English, French, and German only. In 2012, more languages will be supported.

Muse (Try it while it is still free)

Adobe has a beta software “Muse”. It is free for download until its first release in early 2012. If you want to learn to build web site quick and don’t know much about HTML, CSS and anything, this is the right software for you. I will not say this software is amazing. However, it does live up to what Adobe claims, no one line of code needs to be written.

Electronic/Computing devices warranty

There were days in the past where the super computing store like CompUSA, Computer City, Circuit City would attempt to sell customers warranty at cashier whenever a new hardware item is purchased. Well, gone were those giant physical stores, but we still have Best Buy, Office Depot, Office Max, and Apple Store. And today, some of those stores will still try to sell customer a warranty when a hardware is purchased.

In any event, I think purchasing warranty of any hardware is really not a good move in most cases. In the past, it was not a good move. And today is even worst. First, most of those hardware is no longer expensive. Second, the update version or newer model keep coming out, and coming out fast. In most cases, the one that you are buying will last to at least the 2nd to 3rd generation of its kind available on the market. By then, it is way over due for you to upgrade anyway.

If you keep not buying any warranty when purchasing any new hardware device, you will see some serious saving for years to come.

Allaire, Macromedia, Adobe–and still–Cold Fusion

I haven’t built any web site for a long time. A chance presented itself which call to use an application server to build something quick. I first used Cold Fusion back in 1997. 14 years later, Cold Fusion is still good for rapid deployment. Different version different time, I love still seeing Cold Fusion around.

OSX Lion is selling for $69 in Mac Store. Well, burning your own copy will cost only $29 + a 8GB thumb drive. Why Apple is selling it at that price, and what type of Mac users actually go to buy that?
